Getting Ready for Fall with Lafayette 148

Lafayette 148 Falling Water

This week I attended a fashion show at Neiman Marcus to see Lafayette 148‘s new fall collection. I didn’t make it to Fashion Week in New York, but I didn’t need to because I got to see a gorgeous collection walk down the runway right here in Chicago. I had so much fun getting dressed up to attend the show. I even took the day off work!

Lafayette 148 Fallingwater Collection

Lafayette 148’s latest collection is inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater House. I can understand why because the designs have architectural elements and lots of texture. You know by now that I love texture.

I wore this silk drop-waist dress from the collection. The built-in scarf/neck tie at the collar adds a special detail. It’s the perfect desk to dinner dress. I love this print but it also comes in velvet. Swoon. All of the pieces from the Fallingwater collection are very versatile including this dress. I’ll be pairing it with over-the-knee boots for winter.

I accessorized with a ladylike Loeffler Randall bag and minimal bracelet from Rustic Cuff.

And white booties from last year because they really do go with everything and add a little pop to a neutral look. These ones are by Sam Edelman, but find a similar pair here. I may need a new pair because these ones are getting pretty beat up.

I’m also linking some of my favorite pieces from the collection below. The jackets and coats really stood out to me. I would invest in one statement leather jacket to wear all season and for years to come. I loved browsing the collection in person at Neiman Marcus because I could see that everything is incredibly well-made with great attention to detail.

Do you love this collection? Let me know in a comment!

*My dress was gifted by Lafayette 148.

  • Summer Shopping at Woodfield Mall

In my opinion, there’s really nothing more enjoyable than spending an entire day at the mall. It’s the girly girl in me. Shopping, eating, people watching, and actually getting a lot of exercise by just walking around! I hadn’t been to a mall in a while so this was a well-deserved treat.

  • Cupcakes and Cashmere Midi Dress

I’ve been living in midi dresses this summer because they’re so comfy and easy to wear. I’m always drawn to floral and lace details too so I couldn’t resist this dress. I got it from Rent the Runway but it’s also available at Nordstrom at a great price. This is the perfect look for summer brunching. Add some simple accessories and you’re ready to go. And if you’re looking for an Instagrammable spot for brunch or tea with friends, I recommend The Langham Chicago.

  • What to Wear Poolside

For this look, I got to hang out at the serene indoor pool at The Langham in Chicago. I even went for a dip – well I dipped my feet in – proof at the end of this post. I love this outfit because it’s casual and comfy but has lots of fun little details. You can’t go wrong with a good pair of denim cutoff shorts in the summer. I added some fun new pieces to the pair that I’ve been wearing for two seasons now. Pearl slides for less than $50? Add to cart.

  • The iPhone Case You Need to Take Perfect Photos + Giveaway

Photography is probably the most important part of blogging (or fashion blogging at least). I mean without photos what the heck would I post here? It’s also one of the most stressful parts of blogging – in my opinion. I work with a professional photographer here in Chicago so I can be sure that my outfit photos are high quality. And I’m kind of lost when I don’t have a professional to pose and direct me. I’m a blogger, not a model.

  • Channel Your Sporty Side with Chic Track Pants

I had so much fun in this outfit that I wore to brunch last weekend. It’s a little outside of my comfort zone but I always like breaking away from my typical jeans. These high-waisted pants are so comfortable and slimming with the side stripe. I tucked in a light pink top to avoid looking too matchy matchy and wore my white boots because it’s not warm enough yet in Chicago to wear open-toed shoes.

  • Floral Midi Dress

As soon as I saw this dress at the Rent the Runway store in Chicago, I knew I had to wear it in a blog shoot. I think it might be the prettiest thing I’ve ever worn and it made me feel amazing. I love the fit and flare shape and the gorgeous embroidery on the bodice. Tanya Taylor is one of my favorite brands available on Rent the Runway. All of her dresses and tops are so feminine and well-made.

  • My First Time Wearing Glasses + Where to Find Affordable Frames

I used to have 20/20 vision growing up, but I’ve been in denial the past few years as my vision has started to deteriorate. There’s no doubt that it’s because I spend the better part of every day looking at screens.  I realized that I could no longer see what street signs said until I was underneath them. I don’t drive here in Chicago so it’s not a huge deal, but I decided it was finally time to get my eyes checked.

  • Easy Floral Look for Spring

Florals? For spring? You know the famous line that comes next from The Devil Wears Prada. It’s still a little chilly here in Chicago – actually it’s snowing outside as I write this. But I’ve started adding some more color and lighter fabrics back into my wardrobe because I’m ready for a change. I love the whimsical print on this button-up satin Portofino shirt from Express. It was purchased through Wikibuy – a website and Chrome extension that finds you the best deals across the web on tons of products!

Spring is upon us! It’s that time of the year when I start getting tired of wearing darker shades and heavy layers. I’m sure your feeling ready for a change too. • How to Style Leather Sweatpants

You know that I would never wear sweats in public, but these (faux) leather babies are an exception. I’m always wearing jeans so leather pants are a fun and welcome change. And they’re SO comfy! I wore these all day and all night (it was my boyfriend’s birthday party) and I was so happy. I toned down the edginess of leather pants with a cozy, simple sweater and white boots for contrast.

  • Charming Charlie Gingham Look

I tend to wear darker colors in the winter. I’m not sure why. I think it’s just easier to match with my warm coats and boots. However, I like things that have fun details that stand out even when it’s freezing outside. I instantly fell in love with the puffy gingham sleeves on this comfy t-shirt. The gingham trend might be on its way out, but this top is still so fun. Embroidered boots are another fun trend this season.
