Mrs. Meyers Plant Something Day (+ Giveaway!)

Plant Something Day with Mrs. Meyers (+ Giveaway!)

Last week, I spent the morning doing some volunteer work at Global Garden Refugee Training Farm for #PlantSomething Day. Global Garden is a farm where 100 refugee families can grow organic vegetables to eat and sell at local markets. They often grow vegetables that are native to their home countries. I had no idea that such an amazing garden community like this existed in Chicago. On Plant Something Day, some other bloggers (from left – Erin’s Inside Job and Once Upon a Dollhouse) and I helped plant vegetables and weed the garden. Mrs. Meyers provided these cute aprons for us to wear and hand washing stations with delicious smelling soap to clean up afterwards.

Mrs. Meyers has partnered with the American Community Gardening Association (ACGA) to help support gardens like these all across the country. For every order on through June 15th, the brand will donate $5 to the ACGA. I’m so excited to be involved with this amazing initiative. You can learn more here. Make sure to keep reading till the end of this post to enter to win some Mrs. Meyers products.

Mrs. Meyers’ scents are inspired by a Midwest backyard garden and are made with natural, plant-derived ingredients.

While gardening, I was told to eat one of these flowers. I did and it tasted exactly like an onion. So weird!

Amazing project! I really like that they are provided with supplies to grow what’s native to their country, as it can bring comfort in a trying time.

    • Right?! It’s such a great idea.

  • Erin’s Inside Job

Great to meet you! I wasn’t told to eat a flower! I totally would have 🙂

    • Great to meet you too! It was so good haha.

  • Love this project so much. I’m pretty sad I didn’t get to go but it looks like everyone who went had an awesome time. Gardening is so much fun and something I look forward to every single warm season. We don’t have a plot this year but we have in past years. I love watching things go from teeny tiny seed to gigantic plant in no time at all. My favorite thing to grow is definitely arugula followed closely by those chives you got to sample!

    • That’s so cool that you garden! Haha I didn’t realize those were chives.
