These simple rules are fundamental to looking good and feeling good.
1. If you must buy cheap shoes, buy them in black!
I strongly encourage you to splurge on shoes, but if you absolutely can’t resist buying a pair of cheap faux leather boots or heels, do not buy them in any other color besides black. Cheap materials and craftsmanship are hidden by the dark color. Same goes for cheap clothing. 99% of the time, tan faux leather looks tacky.
2. No more granny panties
Thongs go under tight pants. If you don’t want to wear a thong, then you have no business wearing tight jeans, leggings, skirts, etc. Adults don’t show VPL (visible panty lines). Additionally, light underwear goes under light colored clothing. I recommend these.
3. Know when it’s time to say goodbye
After you’ve washed something more than 20 times, there’s a good chance that it’s time to get rid of it. That pilled sweater may have looked good when you started wearing it a year ago, but now it looks cheap. Certain items wear out over time like sweaters, white tops, and cotton t-shirts. So buy these items at bargain prices and invest in things that last longer like jeans and accessories.
4. Don’t be lazy with laundry
Going back to number three, you can greatly extend the life of your clothes by washing them properly. Turn clothes inside out before washing and hang dry as much as possible. Clothes last a lot longer when you don’t put them in the dryer. And, stop using bleach and fabric softener, as they degrade the fabrics.
5. Save workout clothes for working out
Here are 7 reasons why you should not wear yoga pants unless you’re actually at yoga.
6. If there isn’t sand under your feet, you shouldn’t be wearing flip flops
There are three pairs of shoes that you should never wear in public. Read more here.
7. Buy the correct sizes
Clothes that fit right look more expensive. Even if you’re usually a size small, buy the medium if it fits better. Every brand has different sizing. If you’re shopping online, make sure to check the size chart.
