Last week, I spent the morning doing some volunteer work at Global Garden Refugee Training Farm for #PlantSomething Day. Global Garden is a farm where 100 refugee families can grow organic vegetables to eat and sell at local markets. They often grow vegetables that are native to their home countries. I had no idea that such an amazing garden community like this existed in Chicago. On Plant Something Day, some other bloggers (from left – Erin’s Inside Job and Once Upon a Dollhouse) and I helped plant vegetables and weed the garden. Mrs. Meyers provided these cute aprons for us to wear and hand washing stations with delicious smelling soap to clean up afterwards.
Mrs. Meyers has partnered with the American Community Gardening Association (ACGA) to help support gardens like these all across the country. For every order on MrsMeyers.com through June 15th, the brand will donate $5 to the ACGA. I’m so excited to be involved with this amazing initiative. You can learn more here. Make sure to keep reading till the end of this post to enter to win some Mrs. Meyers products.
Mrs. Meyers’ scents are inspired by a Midwest backyard garden and are made with natural, plant-derived ingredients.
While gardening, I was told to eat one of these flowers. I did and it tasted exactly like an onion. So weird!
How cute are these hand washing stations?
In addition to a $5 donation, the first 2,500 orders will also get a free basil seed paper – all you have to do is plant the paper under a thin layer of soil. Shop here.
Gardening gets people outdoors and helps build communities.
