With the summer season well on its way, it is essential that we all get a sun care routine in place so that we can each protect our skin from the strong summer sun. There are endless benefits to caring for your summer skin, not to mention wrinkle and skin cancer protection!
Here are a few ways you can help to prep yourself for the summer sun and get an effective sun routine sorted:
– Choose a good face sunscreen
A good face sunscreen is something that everyone will want to be sure they have in their summer skincare routine. Whether you choose a tinted or non-tinted, aim for a delicate sunscreen that is over 50SPF. You also want to make sure that either this one or another one is a sunscreen you will reapply during the day. It can take some time to find the right sunscreen for you, so get started on this search as early as possible!
– Invest in a body lotion that exfoliates and may also help keep your tan
A good body lotion is a necessary step in your skincare routine. With the increased sun exposure, perhaps salt water and sand, and increased body treatments such as hair removal, your skin may need a little extra TLC during the summer months! It is well worth investing in a body lotion that exfoliates but may also help keep your tan so your skin looks and feels refreshed but it isn’t stripped by too heavy or too much of a body lotion.
Luckily you can find great options such as the Blue Lagoon body lotion, as well as other skincare products from the brand that will care for your skin and not be too stripping on your skin!
– Drink plenty of water
Proper hydration is essential always, but you want to boost your hydration levels that bit more during the summer months, especially when you are getting more sun exposure. Spending too much time in the sun without proper hydration can not only cause you to feel unwell, it can also mean that your skin is not getting the proper support while it also taking on the increased sun exposure. So to support your skin as well as the rest of your body,
– Wear a big hat and try to avoid the sun for long periods of time
While sunscreen is also an essential, a big hat is too! Especially if you are constantly in the sun, this step will help to provide that physical barrier from the sun and offer greater sun protection. Plus, while constantly sitting in the sun and enjoying can be tempting, it is helpful for the safety of your skin and for skin cancer protection to avoid the sun for long periods of time. If you know you will be getting a lot of sun exposure at one time, reduce your hours elsewhere or at the very least limit your time in the sun during the sun’s strongest hours of the day: 1-3pm.
These are tips you can use for many summers to come and it is important to adopt these measures to keep you looking young and healthy, both in terms of skincare and skin cancer protection.
