There are many beautiful places to see in the world, and it is all too easy to keep adding destinations to your bucket list!
Here are 3 beautiful capitals of the world to see once in a lifetime and make sure end up on your bucket list:
1) Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is a unique destination with an incredible global cultural presence. It is more conservative than Dubai, but it is diverse, has historic landmarks, and traditional experiences to offer. While you’re here, you can go to Warner Bros World, see architectural wonders such as the Sheikh Zayed bridge, and visit the Eastern Mangroves Promenade where you can catch a sunset, rent a kayak and dine along the promenade. To experience more of the local culture, visit the Al Mina Fish Market and Qasr Al Watan.
2) Reykjavik
Reykjavik has become an increasingly popular destination in recent years as more flights have made it a more accessible capital to visit for many people around the world. It is a small capital with fewer than 200,000 inhabitants, but it offers plenty to see and do! Whether you are visiting for relaxation, nature, nightlife, and/or culture, there is something for everyone here.
You can see quite a bit of the city center by foot or by renting a bike. This way you can see Hallgrímskirkja Church, pop by the shopping streets including Bankastræti, and the Neighbourhood of the Gods. If you’re visiting during a time of sunny weather, it is a must to at Austurvöllur Square, which is a gathering a spot for locals and visitors. A major benefit of exploring by foot or by bike is also so that you can stop over at any of the characteristic side streets or local restaurants/shops. Sometimes the best gems are found by simply wandering and exploring this capital. While you’re here, be sure to try the local cuisine. Popular dishes in Icelandic cuisine include seafood and lamb!
3) Moscow
Moscow is a charming and history with some of the best art collections, theatre and film studios. You can also find wonderful restaurants here as well as shops. On your trip to Moscow, it is a must to visit the Garden Ring. This is where many of the ‘best of Moscow’ spots are found! Start at the Red Square to see the Patriach’s Palace, the Diamond Fund, the Bell Tower Complex, and Lenin’s Mausoleum. Other places to visit while you’re here are St. Basil’s Cathedral, the State Historical Museum and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. To venture to a quieter part of this capital, head over to Zamoskvarechye, a well-known district that is still in Moscow but feels like you are elsewhere due to its more peaceful ambiance.
Overall, Moscow is a more laid-back capital that still has all the culture and history that will keep you plenty busy while you’re here! This is definitely one of those destinations to leave time to explore side streets and spend longer time than you may have anticipated in a beautiful gallery or museum.
Have you ever been to any of these places? If not, which of these destinations would you like to go to first?
