Life Update:
I’ll be graduating from DePaul this June and the senioritis is real. I’m so so ready to be done. But honestly, I’ve been wanting out of college since day one. There are some things that I really do like about DePaul – the career center has been incredibly helpful, and the city location and flexible class schedules are great. As far as the classes go, I felt that 90% of them were an incredible waste of time.
There’s comfort in having a degree on my resume, but if I had it to do over again, I think I might be further along in life if I had skipped college altogether and put all of my effort into blogging and working. I have a few good friends from DePaul, but most of my friends and connections have come from blogging and my own networking.
I don’t think that the coursework taught me critical thinking skills. Unfortunately, the truth is that I think my classes taught me how to get the best grade with as little effort as possible. There was no joy in learning because most of it wasn’t learning, but just memorizing random facts that I would forget the day after the final exam. Of course, I did have a few amazing classes – most of them in the entrepreneurship department. The photography class I took was probably the most useful in my daily life. I’m sure some other colleges are different, but my experience has been that the large majority of the students just want a diploma and nothing else.
I just wanted to share a completely honest opinion about my last four years because I don’t think college is some right of passage that everyone needs to go through. Anyways, keep reading for details on this dress!
I bought this dress from the BCBG store on Oak Street that recently closed. I got this and another one for like 70% off! I fell in love with the lace and cut-out details.
Usually, I don’t like wearing dark colors after winter, but I really like how the nude slip shows through the lace and brightens it up. BCBG fits me like a glove so they’re always my go-to brand when I need new dress.
