As 2017 comes to a close, we’re all thinking about how to improve in the new year. It’s a tradition. Whatever your resolution is, I bet that increasing your confidence can help you accomplish your goals. For me, clear skin really is a factor in how confident I feel on a given day. It determines whether I feel the need to hide behind heavy makeup or if I can simplify my morning routine and head out the door feeling amazing. Keep reading for some tips that have helped me look and feel more confident in the past year.

How to Get Clear Skin in the New Year:
- Drink more water. Just do it. Hydrated skin is happy skin. If you make a conscious effort to drink a lot more water each day, I promise you’ll notice a difference in your skin and just feel better. Sparkling water helps encourage me to drink more, as well as a cute bottle (shop my marble water bottle).
- Revamp your skincare routine. If your current products aren’t working, it’s time for a change. Simplifying your skincare is a great way to start fresh in the new year. I wash my face with ZAPZYT Acne Wash twice per day and use their Pore Clearing Scrub to exfoliate just a couple times per week. I also use a spot treatment when those pesky pimples pop up. Problem zits really are just unavoidable even as an adult. ZAPZYT’s Acne Treatment Gel works fast. It’s water-based and doesn’t contain alcohol to prevent dryness in the winter months. And don’t worry – it won’t break your budget. The treatment gel only costs about $5 and is available at Walmart. One bottle lasts me a long time.
- Be active. Sweating during exercise helps remove toxins from your skin. Just make sure to wash your face/shower afterwards. I try to get in a minimum of two workouts per week. It’s a goal that I know I can meet even with a busy schedule and when I exceed that, I feel even better.
- Eat well. While eating one cupcake isn’t going to cause a breakout, I always notice that my skin is clearer when I consistently eat healthy. The opposite is true when I get in the habit of eating too much junk food (hello holiday parties). Adding more fruits, veggies, and whole foods to your diet will make for happy skin. Avoid too much sodium, sugar, and overly processed foods.
