My First Time Ever Wearing Glasses
I used to have 20/20 vision growing up, but I’ve been in denial the past few years as my vision has started to deteriorate. There’s no doubt that it’s because I spend the better part of every day looking at screens. I realized that I could no longer see what street signs said until I was underneath them. I don’t drive here in Chicago so it’s not a huge deal, but I decided it was finally time to get my eyes checked. Admittedly, I hadn’t been to an eye doctor in at least a decade so I was a bit nervous. I booked an appointment at Walgreens Optical – a short walk from my apartment and only $55 without insurance! I love Walgreens.
If you need to see an eye doctor, I highly recommend trying Walgreens. I was beyond impressed with the whole experience. (This post is in no way sponsored by the way). The optometrist there could not have been nicer or more knowledgeable and the exam was very thorough. And the optical department on the second floor of the Wrigley building location was beautiful. No really – I mean beautiful. Clean, modern, white marble everywhere, huge selection of glasses. This was not some stuffy doctor’s office.
Shopping Time: Where to Find Affordable Frames
I decided to buy my glasses online instead of at Walgreens because sometimes I’m all about a good deal and I think buying prescription glasses in-store is the biggest rip off. They are less expensive at Walgreens than other places but still. I chose EyeBuyDirect because they had the cheapest prices I could find with the styles I wanted.
I got TWO PAIRS FOR $60 – the frames in this post and a pair of sunglasses. They were having a BOGO deal. I was worried that they would look cheap, but the quality is actually amazing. I was at an event and someone asked if they were Tom Ford. HA! There’s nothing I love more than things that look expensive but actually aren’t. Keep scrolling for more details on my glasses and this outfit.
I’ve always found that a cat eye shape is most flattering for my round-ish face shape. I love that these frames have silver arms. They also come in a tortoise color which I love as well. Shop more of my favorite frames from EyeBuyDirect:
Now let’s talk about the rest of this look. Midi dresses are my new thing. I used to think that I couldn’t wear longer dresses because I’m short but this length is actually really flattering and comfy. You don’t have to worry about your dress flying away in the wind. I also feel very sophisticated. Yes, between the glasses and the dress, I am turning into an old lady.

My stackable bracelets are from Henri Bendel.
Do you guys wear glasses? If so, what was your experience and where do you shop for frames? I would love to know. Leave a comment below.
