I’m from Southern California and I’ve been living in Chicago for the past five years or so. I love that it snows in the winter here although sometimes I don’t love the freezing weather. But my favorite part of winter in Chicago is being able to wear all the winter things – coats, boots, sweaters, ear muffs. I could barely wear pants in SoCal without overheating. Fun jackets and coats are definitely what I look forward to most when the temps start dropping. They’re the most important part of winter fashion since you can’t go outdoors without one for months in Chicago.
I love this Nicole Miller quilted leather bomber jacket so much that I’ve rented it twice from Rent the Runway. That doesn’t happen very often for me since there are so many items I want to wear. It’s a statement piece so you can keep the rest of your outfit simple and still feel stylish. It’s also pretty warm for a leather jacket.
I especially love my Rent the Runway Unlimited membership this time of year. It enables me to wear a new fun jacket or coat each week. And good jackets can be expensive so it’s hard to buy a lot of them.
I can’t stop wearing my SAS boots. They’re so comfy and add a festive pop to any look. Learn more about them in this blog post.
This B Collection sweater is crazy soft and not too heavy. It’s also from Rent the Runway.
My mini trunk bag is sadly no longer available from Henri Bendel but it’s one of my favorites.
These photos were taken by the talented Hannah Schweiss at the Waldorf Chicago. They have the prettiest courtyard in the city especially after their big Christmas tree goes up.
