Exactly one year ago -last October- I visited Milwaukee for the first time. I fell in love with this little city immediately and said I was going to move there. No one believed me haha. Just about everyday after that first visit, I was on Zillow looking at condos for sale in Milwaukee. Now, a year later, I’m a homeowner in freaking Wisconsin. It still feels surreal to me. The lesson is that if you set your mind to something and stay focused on that vision, you can make it happen.
Milwaukee life has been such a change of pace compared to Chicago. There’s still a lot to do here – constant festivals, tons of amazing restaurants. But I’ve also been enjoying the peace and quiet. People here seem more relaxed and happier – no one wears headphones while walking around! I live down the street from the ‘river walk’ which is so different from Chicago’s river walk. It’s basically empty during the week so I like to go down there and sit on one of the benches to make phone calls. So peaceful. Since moving here, I’ve just been enjoying life. In Chicago, I felt like I was always thinking about the next event or having FOMO. (Is that still a thing?)
Milwaukee is much more laid back and casual than Chicago. I still love dressing up though. When I got in my Uber one early Saturday morning to go to a landlord training class, the driver asked me if I was going to a wedding. I was wearing a pretty casual dress. But I was definitely overdressed compared to everyone else who showed up to the class.
So in addition to my ramblings, here are some of my outfits from the last couple of months:
I have made some new friends here (thanks Instagram!) so not all my photos are mirror selfies.
Now that I’m all settled here, I want to get back into blogging. If there’s something you want me to write about, please let me know in the comments.
