I can’t believe we’re already more than half way through this crazy year. This year will be written about in the history books and one day my future children will ask me about the great toilet paper shortage of 2020.
I’m incredibly grateful that I’m still fully employed. And not to make light of the situation, but I actually had more fun and adventure during the lockdown than I have in quite a while.
Back in April towards the start of this whole thing, I joined a spur of the moment cross-country road trip with my brother. He picked me up in Milwaukee and we drove all the way to my parents’ house in Southern California. Our mid-sized SUV had 3 people, 2 cats, and a large dog. On the way there, we drove straight through without stopping for more than about 15 minutes. On the way back, we stopped at Mount Rushmore but sadly couldn’t see a thing due to low visibility. It was the craziest thing I’ve ever done but I got to see so many beautiful new states – Utah and Wyoming were my favorites. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to drive across the country with absolutely zero traffic.
What I learned: take nothing for granted.
This is the first time in my life where I experienced my freedoms being taken away in an instant. I always vote but laws and regulations that are passed don’t usually effect me in such a direct and immediate way. The first time I went to a bar right after the shutdown, it felt more like a speakeasy. The bartender shook our hands and we toasted to freedom. I felt like I was in the prohibition! It was the best time I’ve had at a bar and I’ll never take going to a restaurant, getting a haircut, or even going grocery shopping for granted again.
And now for some more outfit photos… this simple gold ring is by AU-Rate. It’s affordable and something you can wear every day. I’m not a huge jewelry person but I love classic pieces like this.
Bag is by Dooney & Bourke. It was gifted to me last year at an event in Chicago and has been my go-to bag ever since. Unfortunately, I can no longer find this exact style on their website.
