I recently got out of the city and took a trip to Woodfield Mall in Shaumburg. It took my boyfriend and me just 30 minutes to drive there from downtown. I’m used to shopping on Michigan Avenue but this was a welcome change. I had no idea there was such an amazing mall right outside of the city. It reminds me of malls I used to shop at in California (that’s where I’m from).
In my opinion, there’s really nothing more enjoyable than spending an entire day at the mall. It’s the girly girl in me. Shopping, eating, people watching, and actually getting a lot of exercise by just walking around! I hadn’t been to a mall in a while so this was a well-deserved treat.
Keep reading to see a few looks that I put together with pieces I purchased.
Look 1: Anthropologie linen maxi dress
Since summer is so short in Chicago, I wanted pieces that I could wear now but will also transition well into fall. I fell in love with this whimsical maxi at Anthropologie. I love the linen and sweater combination. The textures are so cozy. I don’t usually use cozy to describe a maxi dress but this one really is. Shop it here.
Also found at Woodfield Mall are these fun hoop earrings. They were only $16 at Francesca’s! I’ve been wanting a pair of hoops since they’re a major trend this summer. I think these ones are the perfect size for me – not too big. Francesca’s has a ton of affordable hoops. Shop earrings here.
Look 2: Francesca’s Polka Dot LBD
Polka dots are another summer trend but the print is classic and works all year round. I love this dress because it’s a fun take on an LBD. I love the bow at the bust and the flattering fit. I paired with my favorite white boots, a colorful bucket bag, and the hoop earrings again. I would wear this look to the office or to happy hour. Shop polka dot dresses here. There are so many options online and in-store.
Look 3: Francesca’s top and Mom jeans
You can never have too many white tops and I love the subtle floral print and texture on this one from Francesca’s. Jeans are by Mott & Bow.
Look 4: Tommy Bahama Floral Shirt
I brought my boyfriend along and he had a great time too even though he claims to dislike shopping. It might have helped that I bought him this fun shirt from Tommy Bahama – on sale here!
Pro shopping tip: start your mall trip by getting your man something to put him in a good mood.
A mid-shopping coffee break is tradition! There’s nothing like an iced coffee to rejuvenate and rehydrate.
